ABOUT MANASA
MANASA is
a Non-Profitable Voluntary organization instituted to cater the needs of the
Mentally Challenged individuals with limitations in their cognitive and
physical disabilities in the age group of 2 to 40 years. Manasa was established
in June 1998 at Madhuravoyal, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, with the strength of just 2
children, it has today grown to a family of ninety-five children. Manasa
institute for the special children with Cerebral Palsy (Spastics), Autism.

AIM OF
MANASA
To identify the disability as
early as possible.
To provide the necessary
corrective and rehabilitative training and aid assistance.
To develop the potential skills
and abilities to the fullest possible to prepare them to integrated with
mainstream education.
Manasa aims to provide an entire
range of following services that will take these special children from the
stage of being dependent on others for the most basic needs to a stage where he
or she can function as a literate, confident, independent member of the
community capable of earning a livehood.

* Awareness Program in the rural & slum area of Koyambedu,
Thiruverkadu and poonamalle block.

Parent’s meaningful counseling meeting in every three
month.
COMPUTER EDUCATION
The power of computer to help
teach children is well documented. It has been shown that Computer can be used
to improve cognitive, language, speech, social, pre-school, academic and
problem solving-skills. The list shows some of the skills, which could be
improved with computers.
FACILITIES WE PROVIDE
* Manasa has
dormitories, well-lighted classrooms with all the special education aids, well-equipped
vocational training unit, speech therapy unit, physiotherapy unit and hygienic
kitchen.
* Currently
we have 95 special children in the centre out of them 55 are staying at hostel
and remaining are day scholars.
* Manasa has
a dedicated team consist of trained Special Educators, Physiotherapist,
Occupational Therapist, Warden, Social Worker, caregivers and ayyah.
* In
addition, health and medical monitoring is undertaken by a panel of specialists
from nearby hospitals who regularly visits our centre.
* The
service of speech therapist, psychologist, and psychiatrists are utilized on a
part time basis.
INTEGRATION INTO COMMUNITY
Once rehabilitation i..e, the fulfillment
of the child physical, education, vocational, social and emotional potential is
completed, he or she is resettled into his or he own community.
Some of the inmates have been able
to complete vocational training course such as diya making, paper cover making,
embroidery work, computer education and others have been settled in
self-employment projects.
MANASA MISSION STATEMENT
Our goal is to offer comprehensive care and
assistance to as many as children we could support. Our facilities will
accommodate without any regards to their religion, caste, creed or sex. If we
can in turn help those individuals to develop the skills and self esteem to
become productive citizens of our country, to enable a individual to
live a less dependent, productive and respectable life then our mission is
accomplished. Manasa special children do not
need your pity. They need your compassion and understanding to help them become
self-sustaining individuals, which will enable them to contribute to the
society in the best way possible.
WITH YOUR SUPPORT WE CAN

Help the Mentally Challenged and Multiple disabled
persons to become self-supporting and independent.
* Provide periodic medical check up for our inmates
* Provide good hostel facilities for Mentally
Challenged and disabled children.
* Provide opportunity for adult mentally challenged
persons who are unable to settle in the open
job market.
* Reach various near by village and assist them in
establishing centres for special education and
train the disabled children.
Donation made to
“MANASA SCHOOL FOR THE SPECIAL CHILDREN”
are fully
exempted under section
80 G of
the Income Tax Act, 1961.
